Lori Nix Photography

Lori Nix Photography, originally uploaded by twenty2woblog.

Seen over at Cool Hunting's top five photographers list is the work of Lori Nix. Lori builds elaborate models to photograph which results in mysterious little worlds. Her work bends the line between truth and illusion and is playful yet at times tragic.

Brandi Strickland

I have really been into collages lately and came across the work of Brandi Strickland. Her collage work is beautiful and full of whimsy. She also has some photography and painting up on her site as well. She has a good collection of work for sale on Etsy all under $100.

Audrey Kawaski

Audrey Kawaski's paintings on wood painting are wonderful and beautiful. Taking inspiration from manga comics gives them an "innocent yet erotic" feel, quite the contradiction. The smooth graphic style overlayed on wood grain is sexy for sure.

Evoke by Usman Haque

Evoke by Usman Haque, originally uploaded by twenty2woblog.

An amazing light display using architecture as a canvas, is the work of Usman Haque. The public was encouraged to interact with the installation by controlling patterns with their voices. Different frequency and tone create unique patterns and color. This must have been truly spectacular in person. via designboom

I always try to carry a Moleskine for all those random thoughts. Mine most often turn into lists so its always great to see examples like this one from Jonas Fechner. Collage, sketches, found images, mixed media of all sorts ends up in Jonas' book. Check out his flickr set and get inspired by this great process work. Also check out the large flickr group Moleskinerie.

Patrick Winfield

Came across these great composite works from Patrick Winfield. Using multiple Polaroids to create a larger composition results in a fragmented and engaging view. The images beg to be looked individually but also work together as the whole. The site design is also very nice and clean.

Daniel Everett Photography

Daniel Everett Photography, originally uploaded by twenty2woblog.

Wonderful abandoned landscapes and industrial emptiness by Daniel Everett. These images reminded me of Ed Burtynsky and then I noticed that Everett did indeed work for Burtynsky. The lighting and mood in Everett's work is exceptional and has an eerie sense of beauty.

Stina Persson

Stina Persson, originally uploaded by twenty2woblog.

Stina Persson produces wonderful watercolors with a sharp stencil look to them. The colors are bold and bleed together and contrast with the hard edge lines. She also has some nice work painting on top of photographs and cut paper collages. I was lucky to come across this artist on the great site ffffound. Be careful you can easily kill an afternoon looking at images on there.

File Magazine

File Magazine, originally uploaded by twenty2woblog.

I came across File Magazine today and it has been great eye candy. Calling the style unexpected photography is one way to describe the images but as the magazine says "The pictures say this better than we can".

Bjork and Michel Gondry

There is a short clip that is a behind the scenes at Bjork's latest video "Declare Independence". One of my favorite directors, Michel Gondry, is behind the project. Bjork's music makes for a perfect pairing to Gondry's surreal style. It is always amazing to see how Gondry's process works too. If you enjoy his films then you will also love the Work of Director Michel Gondry. I own this and have seen it probably ten times, and every time it is inspiring. Bjork's album isn't too bad either. [update: here is the video]
