Tiffany Bozic creates images drawn from the natural world but layers her own inner worlds wit it. The flora and fauna look almost from an Audubon book yet there is a slightly off aspect that gives the work a little edge. Check out her great style here.

Edwin Ushiro is an illustrator who grew up in Hawaii and currently lives in Los Angeles. Much of his personal work comes with a story of mythology or superstition that really make the work seem powerful to me.

Last night I went to downtown Los Angeles for the monthly art walk. On the second Thursday of the month about thirty galleries participate in the self-guided walking tour. I didn't make it to all but I would have to say my favorite work was from Miguel Osuna. His paintings of freeway overpasses are what really caught my eye. His studio/gallery space at 410 South Main was an amazing space in a building from 1914. If you are in LA try and make it to an art walk one month.

Artist/ Musicians are always great to find it really makes for a full package. See a previous slash artist here in Tycho.

Another mixed media work, this time by Sean McGaughey. When I first saw his painting I thought it was a Barry McGee, one of my favorite artists. Sean's work is about the dialogue he has while painting. The process of making the painting shows through even after covering up 'mistakes'. The finished product is far from a mistake however. Read an interview here.

I have really been into collages lately and came across the work of Brandi Strickland. Her collage work is beautiful and full of whimsy. She also has some photography and painting up on her site as well. She has a good collection of work for sale on Etsy all under $100.

Audrey Kawaski's paintings on wood painting are wonderful and beautiful. Taking inspiration from manga comics gives them an "innocent yet erotic" feel, quite the contradiction. The smooth graphic style overlayed on wood grain is sexy for sure.

Stina Persson produces wonderful watercolors with a sharp stencil look to them. The colors are bold and bleed together and contrast with the hard edge lines. She also has some nice work painting on top of photographs and cut paper collages. I was lucky to come across this artist on the great site ffffound. Be careful you can easily kill an afternoon looking at images on there.
